Upper Dam Pond (also known locally as Breezy Lake) is located on the eastern side of the Town of Coventry, Rhode Island. This small body of water has been a hidden gem for years, once hosting water skiing events and fishing contests in the 1950s. What was once a small gathering of fishing cottages has grown to a modern neighborhood. The pond sports a small dam to control flooding, and a public beach that is free to be used by all.

The last few years have seen an exponential growth of invasive aquatic plants in Upper Dam Pond. This has led to the surface of the water almost completely covered by lily pads, watershield, and milfoil. The body of water that once once used for swimming, kayaking, fishing, and paddle boarding is now completely unusable during the summer months.

The Upper Dam Pond Conservation Association was founded in August of 2020 as a reaction to growing concern among our community of neighbors about the rapid growth of these invasive aquatic species. The association was formed with the hopes that many voices united can accomplish what one may not. The goal of the association is the use of our combined efforts and resources to work with local and State officials, obtain funding for treatment to eliminate the invasive species, and do our part to return Upper Dam Pond to its former glory.
